Preparing the Materials

Before you start laminating your paper keepsake box exterior, gather all the necessary materials. You’ll need a laminating machine, laminating pouches, scissors, and a ruler. Selecting the right thickness of laminating pouch is crucial as it determines the durability of the final product. Generally, a 3 mil or 5 mil pouch works best for paper crafts.
Ensure that your paper keepsake box is clean and free from any dust or debris. This will help achieve a smooth finish when you laminate. You might also want to trim the edges of the paper if they are uneven, as this helps in aligning it properly within the laminating pouch.
Laminating the Keepsake Box
Once you’ve prepared your materials, it’s time to laminate. Place your keepsake box exterior inside the laminating pouch, making sure it’s centered and has enough space around the edges. If the pouch has a clear side and a sealed side, make sure to insert the paper into the clear side to avoid any adhesive mess.
After setting the pouch, turn on the laminating machine and let it heat up. When it’s ready, feed the pouch into the machine slowly and steadily. Avoid pulling or pushing too hard as this may cause wrinkles or bubbles in the lamination. The laminating process usually takes only a few minutes, so keep an eye on it.
Finishing Touches
Once the laminating process is complete, carefully remove the pouch from the machine. Allow it to cool for a minute before handling it further. After cooling, you can trim any excess laminating film around the edges of your keepsake box exterior to give it a polished look.
If you notice any air bubbles trapped within the laminate, gently press them out using a flat edge like a credit card. This will help ensure that your keepsake box remains pristine and protected for years to come. Properly laminated, your keepsake box will not only look beautiful but also withstand wear and tear, making it a cherished item for a long time.
